Don’t take your eyes for granted particularly as you begin to age. Good eye health starts with the food on your plate. Research shows the positive effects that nutrients such as lutein, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids can have on vision issues such as cataracts and macular degeneration. Dr. Matthew Vizithum is a Optometrist (Eye & Vision Specialist) from Carrboro Family Vision and on sight in nursing homes. He has been involved both at the state and local level working to reduce vision loss from preventable causes, particularly glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. Fresh farm produce plays a role in preventing age related eye disease as well as improving and maintaining good vision. Dr. Vizithum is a great cook and will join Lee in preparing fantastic and delicious dishes loaded with phytonutrients that not only can protect, but also may improve our vision.
